To Whom it May Concern,
I am writing to express my interest in working as an English Language Arts and Reading instructor at the middle school level for the 2015-2016 school year. I have applied to receive my Minnesota full-time teaching license, and I am currently certified to teach ELAR 4-8 in the state of Texas.
In 2011, I graduated from Brigham Young University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Family Life with an emphasis in Human Development. Because of my undergraduate education, I am familiar with the cognitive, social, and emotional development of children, adolescents, and adults, as well as the psychology of relationships amongst individuals and families. My studies in this field prepared me to work successfully with students, parents, and colleagues. The skills I have learned through my education also enhance my ability to manage classroom behavior and create a positive classroom culture that is ideal for learning to take place.
Within the classroom, I have gained invaluable experience that will aid me as a school instructor. Having worked in a digital classroom with 1:1 iPad access for students and consistent access to laptops, I have experience with a variety of apps, websites, and online resources that allows for differentiated instruction and the development of technological skills for my students. Additionally, I have had opportunities within my district to develop new young adult literature curriculum, practice standards-based grading, and to be actively involved in our school community as co-coach of the cheerleading squad and sponsor of the student book club.
Please take a moment to review my portfolio. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak with you regarding any available teaching positions within your district. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Casey Jo Robertson
